Through its partnership with the non-profit Canadian Institute for Procurement and Materiel Management (formerly the Materiel Management Institute), RFPAdvisor ® has developed and delivers four (4) procurement training courses specifically designed for federal government employees.

Each of these courses is recognized by the Treasury Board Professional Development and Certification Program (Procurement) for accreditation purposes.

 

1. Contracting Policy Overview
A half-day or full-day module covering the legislative framework which governs Contracting within the Government of Canada, an overview of the applicable policies, trade agreements, bidding rules and the role of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) in resolving bid disputes.

 

2. How to Develop a Better Statement of Work (SOW)
A half-day or full-day module covering the do's and don't's associated with developing an effective, complete and compliant Statement of Work within your next RFP. This module focusses on the types of SOW's which can be used, how to select the best one for your requirement, a case study and a detailed walkthrough of RFPSOLUTIONS INC.’s Statement of Work Writing Guide.

 

3. The Rules and Tools of Bid Evaluation
A half-day or full-day module covering the rules and tools of RFP bid evaluation, including the development of RFP selection criteria, scoring bidder proposals, documenting the results of the evaluation process, debriefing unsuccessful bidders and the bid dispute process.

 

4. Contract Management
A half-day or full-day module covering the do’s and don’t’s associated with managing complex contracts. This module focusses on contract risk management, contractor performance monitoring, contract amendments, dispute resolution, contract termination and reporting.

 

 

The courses are not normally offered on a regularly scheduled basis, other than via the CIPMM’s scheduled regional/national workshops. Each of the courses is delivered on-demand following a specific requests received from an individual departments/agency that would bring 5-25 people together for one or more in-house sessions.

Courses are available in both English and French.

Courses have been delivered previously to Canada Border Services Agency, Correctional Service of Canada, Canada Revenue Agency, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, Health Canada, Canadian Heritage, Environment Canada, Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Library of Parliament, Canada Post Corporation and others.

Participant course evaluation scores for previous sessions have been 4.5/5.0 or higher.

The courses are aimed at adult learners and therefore utilize adult learning methodologies and interactive participation elements including quizzes, Q& A sessions, role play scenarios, individual exercises and team-based exercises.
